Introduction
The Building Research Culture and Capacity (BRCC) workstream focuses on two main areas: Communications and Engagement and Training and Development. Our team, part of the Public Health and Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC), brings extensive experience from across Somerset Council.
Building research culture and capacity is interdependent with other HDRC workstreams and is essential to achieving HDRC’s goals of fostering a robust research environment.
This workstream prioritises effective communication channels and stakeholder engagement. It also seeks to understand the training needs arising from research engagement and collaboration to offer responsive training solutions. Building culture and capacity involves enhancing confidence in research, motivating development in areas lacking research, and increasing skills and capabilities to drive cultural change.
Examples of our training initiatives include:
- Lunchtime webinars
- Training videos, slide sets, and tutorials
- Comprehensive training and development programs
Somerset HDRC is committed to listening to your training and development needs to help you become more research active.
