Investing in community projects

  • Priority topics: Sometimes, calls focus on specific themes identified by our funders.

Current grant funding call

information

Applications open from Friday 27 March until 11.59pm on Sunday 26 April 2026.

In this new second round, we invite applications for grants of up to £2,500 for projects across two main categories: Community-Led; or Somerset HDRC Priority Themes; to support and strengthen the building block(s) of health within communities.

1. Community-led projects

We invite funding applications for up to £2,500 to fund a community-led project relating to the building blocks of health.

Everything around us shapes our health and how long we live. From our jobs and homes to public transport and access to healthy food, our surroundings play a big role. Factors like poverty, loneliness, or discrimination can make it harder to stay healthy. These influences are known as the Building Blocks of Health.

We invite community organisations to think about what they want to know more about to benefit their communities. This might mean reviewing an existing project, exploring local issues or trialling a new activity/initiative.

  • Housing and Place (including the Environment)
  • Economic Inactivity for working-age adults
  • Children and Young People (focusing on early attachment from 0-2 years old and educational attainment and belonging for 12+ years)
