Health Determinants Research Collaboration Somerset
Somerset Council is one of 30 local authorities across the UK that has been awarded funding by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) to establish a Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC).
The HDRC is an active 5-year programme, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), aimed at reducing health inequalities in Somerset.
In some parts of Somerset people are living more than 10 years less than others. Our aim is to support work that will help to reduce the unfair differences in health and life expectancy that exist in the county.
We will do this by building the Council’s capacity to do research with communities and learn together new ways to reduce inequalities.
