Representatives from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) visited Somerset on 30 June to learn more about the work of HDRC Somerset and the partnerships helping to improve health and wellbeing across the county.

The visit brought together local partners, community organisations and senior leaders to share how research and evidence are being used to support better decisions, tackle health inequalities and improve outcomes for Somerset residents.

Hosted at the Albemarle Centre in Taunton, the day included presentations, discussions and opportunities for partners to reflect on what has been achieved through collaboration. Attendees shared examples of how evidence is helping shape services, programmes and future priorities across Somerset.

A key focus of the visit was HDRC Somerset’s commitment to working alongside communities. Community voices and lived experience play an important role in shaping the programme, helping to ensure that research is relevant, inclusive and rooted in local needs.
